New Member Biography ~ Robin Marcoe
I grew up in Rapid City, South Dakota and briefly attended the University of Colorado until money ran out. From there I took a “temporary” job in Northern Virginia (suburban Washington DC) to earn money to return to school. Forty-three years later, I have now retired from this temporary work and come now to Montrose to live the good life.
My single, accidental career choice was a position in a factory that manufactured a construction material, Architectural Precast Concrete, Arban & Carosi, Inc. First starting as a pattern maker (thanks to the carpentry skills learned from my father), I worked hard and was promoted over several years to the manager’s position, which I held for the last 30 years of my career. Though all of this, in my personal life, I have enjoyed three marriages and two families. My older children still reside in Northern Virginia, with one living overseas. While my youngsters Wil (12) and Emily (10) are the proud product of the loving marriage that I now have with my wife Eileen.
My history in Rotary includes: Charter Member of the Lake Ridge Rotary Club, Rotary District 7610, Virginia (1987), Rotarian from 1987 to 2001, Paul Harris Fellow (Eileen, too), Rotary Foundation Benefactor, Club President (1996-1997. Other club positions held were: Secretary Sergeant-At-Arms Vocational Service Chairman, and Fund Raising Committee Chairman. District positions held were: Youth Exchange Committee Chairman, Youth Exchange Committee In-bound Coordinator, and Rotary Foundation Committee Member. I have received some special recognitions and awards at both the club and district levels; however, poor memory, the inability to locate them in our sea of boxes - and of course great modesty - keep me from listing them here.
